
2001Sept30: NOAA’s satellies reveal drought conditions in 20% of world. The satellite-based method used for image detection, monitoring and analysis of moisture and thermal conditions was developed by scientists at NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service in Camp Springs, Maryland (NOAA, 2001).
