2008Feb12: UK summers were warmer in the period 1971 – 2003 but there was no change in heat-related deaths. Annual cold-related mortality, on the other hand, dropped by 3% as winters warmed, according to a report prepared by a panel of scientific experts commissioned by the UK Department of Health and Health Protection Agency (BBC, 2008).
