2008: Nissan, Renault, and Project Better Place sign an agreement to produce electric cars for sale in Israel and Denmark. Renault will build the cars and Nissan will supply the lithium-ion battery packs. The Israeli government will promote sales of the zero carbon emission cars with low taxes on the vehicles, according to Carlos Ghosn, Nissan and Renault’s chief executive (New York Times, 2008).
