2008May22: Norway’s StatoilHydro ASA announces that it will build the world’s first full-scale floating wind turbine in 2009. The $80 million pilot project. The 2.3MW windmill will be placed about six miles off the coast of Karmoey, near Stavanger. The buoy is held in place by three anchors with chains (MSNBC, 2008).
