2009Jan9: In the tropics, higher temperatures could be expected to cut yields of the primary food crops, maize and rice, by 20-40%, according to  David. S. Battisti and Rosamond L. Naylor, authors of the Historical Warnings of Future Food Insecurity with Unprecedented Seasonal Heat report (BBC).
