2009Jan19: Most glaciers will disappear by middle of century and increase sea levels, according to a World Glacier Monitoring Service report. If the climate is not really cooling dramatically, they’ll retreat and disintegrate. This means many will simply be lost in the next decades – 10, 20, 30, 40 years,” says Professor Wilfried Haeberli, the director of the World Glacier Monitoring Service (UK Guardian).
