2009Aug13: Solar panel prices have fallen by about 40% since the spring of 2008, according to Chris Whitman, the president of U.S. Solar Finance. Falling prices may be due to increased production of polysilicon, an important ingredient in many solar panels, higher production of solar panels by the Chinese, and lower demand because of the global recession (New York Times, 2009).
