China and the US are Responsible for About 40% of Global Greenhouse Gas Emissions 2009

2009Sept19: US and China account for about 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions (New York Times, 2009). The European Union is responsible for 14% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and Russia and India are each responsible for 5% (BBC, 2009).
