85% of the Ice Atop Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania That Was Present in 1912 Has Disappeared

2009Nov3: 85% of the ice atop Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania that was present in 1912 has disappeared, according to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The lead author of the study is Lonnie G. Thompson, a glaciologist at Ohio State University (New York Times).
